Originally from America, Gaelen has been living in Southeast Asia for the past 5 years and practicing and teaching yoga for 16 years. As a former professional dancer and critically acclaimed choreographer, she brings to her yoga teaching a wealth of kinesthetic experience and physical training including Body Mind Centering, Alexander Technique, Skinner Release Technique, Thai Yoga Massage and more. Gaelen’s unique yoga teaching style also combines aspects of Vini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Iyengar Yoga, and her thoughtfully choreographed classes focus on body awareness, and emphasize the flow of breath as a tool to bring us into a state of dynamic presence.
Gaelen’s classes are designed to strengthen and revitalize the physical body, quiet and focus the mind and rejuvenate the spirit. As a teacher she is known for her calm clarity, supportive encouragement and graceful practice. Gaelen inspires students to challenge themselves in a mindful way. She believes that the essence of Yoga is not the pose, but the state within the pose; encouraging students to let go of the reactionary mind and open up to present moment without judgment. Through a greater understanding of the connection of body, breath and mind, she hopes to inspire students to experience the transformative power of yoga.
Gaelen has extensive experience teaching Beginner through Advanced classes, private yoga classes and retreats. She is on the Yoga teaching staff at The Pavana Resort, Chiang Mai, and she teaches as part of the faculty at the Jungle Yoga Ashram Yoga Teacher Training program on Koh Pangnan. Gaelen is an E-RYT 200 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) through Yoga Alliance. She has received triple teacher certification from Samadhi Yoga in Seattle, Sivananda Yoga in India, and Jungle Yoga in Koh Phangnan, Thailand.
Originally from the UK, Neil has been living in Asia since 1997. He has been practicing yoga for 17 years and has been teaching and sharing his understanding of yoga since moving to Thailand in 2011. Neil has trained extensively in different styles of yoga, including Ashtanga-Vinyasa, Hatha, Iyengar, Anusara and Sivananda. He brings to his classes a unique fusion of the many teaching styles and teachers he has studied with.
Neil challengeshis students to be fully present with their current experience in a safe, supportive environment. Neil’s students enjoy his calm presence in the class, and his alignment instructions are clear and coherent. He invites students to examine their relationship to each pose in the moment, and to utilize the flow of the breath as a primary focus to simultaneously still the mind and move the body.
Neil has received 200 hour certificates from SVYASA(2007), and the Teacher Training Certificate (TTC) (2008), followed by the 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training Certificate (ATTC) (2010) from the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, based in India. Also in India in 2010 Neil completed a 3 weekIyengar Intensive with senior Iyengar teachers, Rajiv and Swati Chanchani. In 2014 Neil studied with Simon Borg-Oliver (120 hours - Applied Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga) In 2016 Neil studied intensively with Carlos Pomeda (60 hours - Subtle Body and Yoga Philosphy), Jonas Westring (100 hours - Applied Anatomy and Therapeutics) and Melissa Smith (35 hours - Restorative Yoga). Neil continues to be a student of Yoga first and foremost, honouring this ancient practice with a willingness to dive deeper into all aspects of Yoga.
